ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is the application of a fine, flexible yet solid needle into parts of the body that have been identified to have specific energetics on the body.
The action of needling stimulates peripheral nerves and brings along a multitude of action. This brings the body into balance when we are out of tilt. Initial treatments are especially relaxing for pets.
Application of acupuncture are wide. Commonly applied in pets are conditions such as lameness, sprained back, intervertebral disc disease (slip disc), some skin problems, digestive issues, seizure management, cardiorespiratory illness and general pain management.
Each acupuncture session can range from 10mins to 30mins depending on the condition and chronicity of the pet’s problem. Treatment frequency can be as far apart as monthly for wellness maintenance in senior patients or as regular as daily to every-other-day in acute situations.
Suitability of a pet for this treatment is assessed during consultation. Therapies that are complementary while harnessing the principles of acupuncture can be used in place of needling if a pet were needle-shy or uncomfortable while staying relatively still for treatment. Injectable homeopathic medicines, aquapuncture and phototherapy can be used as alternatives.
HOMEOPATHY
Homeopathy is based on the principle of “diluted medicine” presented either as solid sugar pill or liquid medicines. The principle of treatment is to deliver the remedy deep into the cells of the body. In doing so, layers of diseases laid down over the pet’s lifespan are gradually released. Detoxification clears years of accumulated toxins gently and gradually from the body and is an important part of this therapy in creating a new health balance for your pet.
Homeopathy is applicable to many facets of your pet’s life from acute digestive upsets and injuries to chronic degenerative diseases such as kidney failure, cardiorespiratory failure, muscular sprains, arthritis, neurological abnormalities, digestive problems and skin diseases.
Our homeopathic medicines can be administered by injection or presented as oral drops that are virtually tasteless. This method of health management is especially useful in pets that are not easy to medicate, in situations where there are contraindications to using specific drugs for fear of worsening organ functions in senior patients.
The suitability for a pet to use homeopathy is assessed during consultation.
